Truro on Cape Cod Marks 300th Anniversary
Tomorrow, May 3, 2009, the town of Truro begins to celebrate the 300th anniversary of the date the town was founded. In recognition of this momentous occasion, Truro Vineyards will release two commemorative wines in May: “Truro 1709″ Merlot and Pinot Grigio. Both wine labels will have a depiction of the Highland Lighthouse painted by local artist Robert Cardinal. A portion of the proceeds of the sale of the wines will be donated to local charities.Visitors will be able to taste the new vintages, along with the vineyards’ first-ever estate-bottled chardonnay, in their spectacular new tasting pavilion. Twice-daily tours are conducted Memorial Day thru Columbus Day.
As further tribute to Truro’s tricentennial, the winery will host its first-ever Taste of Truro culinary event Saturday, June 13 from 3-8 PM on their expansive grounds. Scores of Cape Cod’s restaurants and artisans will be on hand for the event, as well as live music and dancing. The event is free and open to the public.
